Southfield and Rebuilding Together Oakland County (RTOC), a community rebuilding non-profit, will be holding a one-day home improvement blitz on Saturday, May 3 in the citys John Grace neighborhood to help low-income homeowners in need of home repairs.

The initiative, which is in its tenth year, involves churches, corporations and individuals who form teams of volunteers to make positive community improvement campaigns possible. This year, the City of Southfields employee team will join nine other teams of volunteers to assist eight different homeowners throughout the John Grace neighborhood.

The City of Southfield has been working with Rebuilding Together Oakland County for the past nine years helping to improve Southfield homes and neighborhoods, said Southfield Acting Building Official Kerry Comerford. The projects are typically scattered throughout the city and concentrate on improving individual properties; however, this years focus will be solely on the John Grace neighborhood. It is great to see our city employees come together in order to give back to the community and to help those in need.

As part of the initiative, Oakland County will host the Oak Street Home and Neighborhood Fair on Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John Grace Community Center, 21030 Indian Road in Southfield.
