Menards home improvement store taking shape near Ann Arbor

Construction is progressing quickly at the site of the new Menards home improvement store and drive-thru lumberyard in Scio Township.

The 242,000-square-foot building is erected and the access ways are built, but not yet paved. The store is located on the southeast corner of Jackson and Staebler roads.

Construction crews were working on the property Monday morning.

Menards spokesman Tom O’Neill said the store is on schedule to open in spring 2015.

A coming-soon sign advertises the new Menards store in Scio Township. 

Scio Township officials approved the Wisconsin-based retailer’s plans in October 2013. Menards purchased 63 acres for $ 7.4 million, and construction crews broke ground on the project in July 2014.

Menards plans to separate the site into four sections:

  • 43-acre Menards’ portion of the development on the southeast corner of the site
  • 11-acre future outlot development along Staebler Road
