Danville to sponsor home improvement expo Thursday

Danville to sponsor home improvement expo Thursday

DANVILLE — Twelve vendors, as well representatives from Virginia Cooperative Extension and five city of Danville departments, will participate in the Make Danville Shine Expo that will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, at the Community Market on Craghead Street.

At the expo, citizens can learn home maintenance tips and meet with home improvement experts in the fields of landscaping, electrical, plumbing, heating and air, and home repair.

City departments will answer questions regarding inspections, housing and development, historic preservation, energy efficiency, trash and debris collection, fire safety and home security.

The Virginia Cooperative Extension office will conduct planting workshops. In addition, the office will represent area 4H clubs and will give out seeds to children.

Also for the children, Recreation Rex from the Danville Parks and Recreation Department and Sparky the Dalmatian from the Danville Fire Department will be in attendance.

The expo, which is free and open to the public, will kick off the second annual Make Danville Shine campaign, which is a month-long initiative to encourage residents to clean-up, paint-up and fix-up their property.
